Standing ovation for the author of this inspirational compilation. Nothing is lacking and nothing is in excess. Surely you will not fail if you take ideas from this material, unless your final product is delivered to someone who still lives in the stone age. Starting to work watching this compilation is like starting a morning listening to a good Bossa nova.

The problem with mobile first is that you might not fully "brainstorm" all the possibilities. Your mind is so focused on creating a minimal subset that you might miss some good ideas. As you design for larger displays you then realize the ideas you missed earlier. In the desktop first approach you create a fuller set of possibilities from the very start and get a "big picture" view of the app. I think it's useful to create a prototype of the full version to get all the ideas out, and then go ahead and do mobile-first with that clearer understanding.

So, at this point, I've decided how to proceed: Mobile first! But not designing, just thinking, then you'll do responsive.

1) Plan larger

2) Prototype mobile

3) Design larger

4) Think mobile first

5) So responsive

6) Design mobile

No doubt, one of my favorite times; Designers have realized that life is simple but we insist on making it complicated, and nothing better than simplicity to communicate a clear message. However, when customers and consumers understand this, trends will have changed.

This headline caught my attention completely and immediately I thought: "Woao! I'll learn something new!" But the article is more based on the methodology, when starting a new project. Here's some basic things and others that are learned by experience, what the project or the brief in your hands needs.

Monesti suunnitteluvaiheessa halutaan nähdä miltä mainos tulee näyttämään käyttäjien ruudulla, mutta on liian aikaista alkaa rakentamaan kampanjaa mainostyökalussa. Tämän haasteen edessä Dinglellä syntyi idea sisäisestä työkalusta, jolla kuka tahansa voisi tehdä mallin esimerkiksi Instagram- ja Facebook-mainoksesta.

It's easy to believe that there are more views now: in an application with only few functions, one swipe less is very important. I personally like the stories from Buzzfeed, CNN and National Geographic. Vertical videos might be the future for smartphones: people don't want to turn their phones. In the content, I enjoy how publishers tell stories through pictures, videos and texts: all inside few swipes. It's hard to explain, you should just watch it.

I don't think that a great design with all the elements described is essential to communicate. There are many ways to communicate to reach people. Visual communication is more about how to use those elements. A good photo or a plain design with a strategic text can often be more than enough.

Hyvä logo on yrityksen tai projektin näkyvin ja mieleenpainuvin kuvallinen viesti, jonka pitäisi symbolisoida koko toiminta-ajatusta. Tokion olympialaisten logon perusteella tapahtumasta on tulossa iso ja järjestelemätön sekasotku. Toivottavasti itse tapahtuma on järjestetty paremmin kuin mitä graafinen ilme viestittää.
